Malogo began as a concept in spring 2008 when one of the owners, Eileen, visited Nungwi during the rainy season to do research with young men working on the beach. In conversation with Tanzanian
co-owner, Magologolo, it became clear that Zanzibar was missing a place where youth (and young at heart!) from around the world could meet up with young Tanzanians and learn about their lives and
their culture without the hassle and hustle on the beach. With this in mind, we pulled our resources, bought some land and began Malogo.
Though we are still under construction, we plan to eventually offer facilities for retreats and small workshops. In the meantime we are offering our rooms at a reduced rate. We are also happy to help you negotiate reasonable rates for day excursions around the island and explain how to use local transportation so that you can make the most of your money. We have contacts with reliable and affordable travel agents and trip organizers on Zanzibar and the mainland to help arrange your travels. Whenever possible, we work with other youth organizations throughout the country. We hope you enjoy your stay with us.
